LEGACY AWARD
The FABJ Legacy Award pays special tribute to those who have given at least 25 years of service to our profession with a considerable career based in the State of Florida.
Nominees and recipients reflect the diverse talents, skills, and roles within a newsroom, including, but not limited to: Anchors, Reporters, Producers, Photographers, Editors, News Directors, and Technical Directors.
SUBMITTING A NOMINATION
The Board of the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists will judge nominations based on a number of merits including:
-Overall contributions to one’s newsroom(s) and community
-Character and professionalism
-Length of service
> The application process (below) includes submitting various testimonials and examples of one’s career and impact.
> Nominations are open to those with at least 25 years experience, and are currently employed or recently retired, from any Florida commercial/public television/radio station or college/university broadcast journalism program.
> There is no limit to the number of nominations FABJ will accept nor is there a limit to how many nominations any individual
nominator/station may submit
> There is no fee to submit a nomination.
> The number of recipients awarded is at the sole discretion of the FABJ Board.
2023 Nomination window has closed. 2024 Nominations will be accepted beginning January 2024.
If selected, it will be the responsibility of the Station/Nominator to provide FABJ with:
-High quality headshot/photo of nominee
-Video tribute montage, no more than 2 minutes in length, to be aired during the FABJ Awards Program
