RYANN JONES
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Ryann has known since the fifth grade she wants to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology. An upcoming graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Ryann was recently hired as a weekend morning meteorologist for First Coast News NBC/ABC Jacksonville.
Her ultimate goal is to become a Chief Meteorologist, specializing in severe weather, while also working to grow the number of black female meteorologists.
MARIANA LARSEN
University of Florida
Mariana has been practicing journalism since age 15, in high school. She knew early the impact reporting can have on a community. During Hurricane Idalia, she worked in the WUFT newsroom for more than 30 hours straight, leading severe weather coverage. In addition to her work with WUFT TV at UF, she completed an internship at WPBF ABC 25 in West Palm Beach and is currently an intern at WCJB ABC 20 in Gainesville as she finishes her education at UF.
More than anything, Mariana wants a career in journalism to help people and to leave a lasting impact.
